The Soul Local Calcutta Cacophony event

The Soul Local

The Soul Local marks another prominent landmark for Calcutta Cacophony. The event was devised to promote and showcase the city’s most exceptional talents from the independent scene. Moreover, through the course of three years, The Soul Local, by Calcutta Cacophony has scaled new heights. The dream of bringing the youth of the city, at one place, on a robust autumn evening, every year, was realized through The Soul Local.

Assemble:
A celebration of Avengers: Infinity War

The phenomenon, which the Marvel Cinematic Universe is something that hardly anyone is unaware of. And when it was time for their ten year two-part anniversary mega event, how could we not be a part? Calcutta Cacophony arranged a special Premiere show of Avengers: Infinity War at INOX Forum, for the craziest MCU fans in the city, getting together with INOX. There was an online illustration competition, and the event day saw people participating in a Marvel themed cosplay and quiz. And we had just started with our Marvel-mania!

Assemble: A Celebration of Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame was really the culmination of eleven years of wait and thrill-building by Marvel. So, Assemble 2.0 was a spectacle worth attending. We partnered up with INOX again, with The Souled Store as our Gifting Partners. This time around INOX South City played host to our event, which saw the return of the amazing cosplayers and quizzers. The event ended with a special premiere show of Avengers: Endgame, and needless to say, the fans and we were left happy and satisfied, and emotional.

A Winters' Tale in the City of Joy:

The Photowalk
(Chapter 1)

Winter 2017-18 saw Calcutta Cacophony organize a two-part Photowalk in the effort to cover North and South Calcutta. A nip in the air set in early, and on the 16th of December 100+ enthusiastic souls assembled at Girish Park Metro Station at 9 am to embark on a three-hour-long journey through the lanes and bylanes of North Calcutta. Team Calcutta Cacophony doesn’t believe in the concept of teaching/instructing through professionals, rather we encourage everyone to learn through experiences and watching each other. All participants were guided throughout the walk, which ended near Ahiritola Launch Ghat with a small meet and greet, and an adda session with everyone.

A Winters' Tale in the City of Joy:

The Photowalk
(Chapter 2)

Chapter 1 of our photo walk saw an immense response with our DMs being flooded with requests to organize another one and we did exactly that. This time Team Calcutta Cacophony aimed to take the participants to the Gangasagar Transit Camp for some unique photos. Once again on January 13, 2018, 100+ participants gathered at Maidan Metro Station at 9 am. It was revealed to them there that after a quick walk through the Maidan we will be heading to the Transit Camp. Everyone was guided throughout the walk, especially at the Transit Camp. This was a new experience for all of us. After about three hours we concluded our photo walk with a photo and adda session. We are grateful to all the participants as well as the team, including the volunteers who helped make both photo walks a success.

Citylights:
A Photo walk

Calcutta Cacophony attempted to throw light upon the other side of this festival. The aim was to promote a happy and safe Diwali. The aim was to spread awareness about the harmful effects of Diwali Celebrations. through a photo walk with these in mind,on November 3, 2018. Diwali in monochrome. This was the endeavor taken up by City Lights: A Photowalk, with no limitations on the device being used. The route covered was through Chandni Chowk market, to Ezra Street, and Bagree Market where the walk came to an end.

The participants and organizers were scintillated to have captured the essence of Diwali in a way like never before. And the walk culminated at a very busy and illuminated Bagree Market, with hopes of a pollution and noise free Diwali.

Lumos

As JK Rowling unleashed the world of magic upon us once again with the all-new Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Calcutta Cacophony decided to come up with a day filled with fun, frolic and lots of magic for the muggles in our city of Joy! We called our event Lumos, and it was a special movie screening of the film which was attended by over 300 people, all of whom were in cosplay as the wizards and witches! With quizzes, rapid fire rounds, puzzle and mystery solving games, people enjoyed to their fullest, We had also run online contests, giveaways and shared lots of exciting trivia!

Fresh Sauce

One of the more important focuses of Calcutta Cacophony has been pushing the city based independent content creators. Be it visual arts, or music, or something completely out of the ordinary. An idea to put together an in-house event was founded, and we sent out news to all city based performers to come and perform at this open mic platform, called Fresh Sauce. With two editions called “Monsoon” and “Pre-Puja” respectively, we saw amazing musicians, poetry performers, bands and rappers take stage and make Fresh Sauce a wholesome experience, altogether.
